Hands incised, heart inscribed

Just can’t get enough of:

“Before the Throne of God Above” by Sovereign Grace Music (on Grooveshark)

Before the throne of God above

Our Father in heaven, closer than the air we breathe …

I have a strong and perfect plea

Thank You that the onus for goodness is off — liberty dawns — so all I am and do is a response, no cultic manipulation of deity.

A great High Priest whose name is love

What is my name before You, ancient as the stars You pointed out to Abraham? Am I growing into it?

Who ever lives and pleads for me

Because my Redeemer lives … ah, how slow I’ve been to realise the length and breadth and height and depth of Your love and my redemption! “Most problems in life are due to hermeneutical errors.” Yes. But instead of chucking me in the bin, You’ve been my shelter, even when I tried my best to run headlong into the storm.

My name is graven on His hands

These are your hands that have given me this cup — whether bitter or sweet, I accept, I accept, I accept, because it’s You.

My name is written on His heart

For trusting me with a space in Your heart, for being ever faithful even when I’m not, I trust You unreservedly as my Lord, my King, my Master, my Saviour, my Friend, my God.

I know that while in heav’n He stands

O Lord, You are sight unseen right now, the object of hope and faith — yet please may we encounter Your manifest presence in our private and public worship and carry the fragrance of that presence forth to every aspect of our private and public lives.

No tongue can bid me thence depart

How keenly am I aware that it is my own perversity, rebellion, foolishness and pride that come between you and I, I and Thou.

No tongue can bid me thence depart

Still, please, Lord, from this day forth, may I never be tempted to leave You or turn back from following You; may I move by Your leading, speak with Your words, see with Your eyes and love with Your heart every remaining day of the life you’ve allotted me.
