Latest updates on the miserable cat situation:

The motherless kittens are still missing, presumed dead or catnapped at best. Poisoned? Saw neighbour spraying insecticide on stairs and around main door last night, but really shouldn’t jump to conclusions. But even those small red joss paper burners look ominous to me now.

The kittenless mother spent the whole of last night going up and down the block softly crying and pawing doors. She spent today on her side, bloated with milk, fitfully mewing and simply exhausted. Last saw her wedged between a wall and a shoe cupboard, where her kittens used to gambol. I should ask the family who took care of the cat when she was pregnant what their version of the events are.

Gah, I don’t feel too well. Kinda queasy and bulbous.
