Kaal (2005): Scary sheets

47. Kaal (2005) — Aaaaaaaand I guess I should mention I sorta watched Kaal … fast forwarded quite a bit as I did not care much for slightly overwrought plot and fascination with decapitation. It’s difficult to stomach that when the story doesn’t bother to surprise me. A few compelling strokes of the cinematic brush, but no more. Neither John Abraham’s abs nor Vivek Oberoi’s furrowed brows nor Ajay Devgan’s calm craziness could save the day. SRK as Item Boy was great fun though, as was watching the gorgeous Malaika Arora in sinuous action with him again after Dil Se.

  1. Agreed. Though I feel and agree with Saroj Khan that SRK’s best work in dance sequences are done in the context of a story. As item boy, you don’t get to enjoy what he brings to storytelling through dance.
