My bad — got confused about which song was which from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam — Tadap Tadap is the running-down-the-bridge song, and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam is the going-to-the-opera-house song. So, Sayesha, yes, there is no femme voce in Tadap Tadap!
14. Parineeta (2005) — went to watch this at Bedok cinema (the Pizza Hut nearby is NOT recommended for those with functioning tastebuds) with the kind and gracious RV. Tis a highly entertaining and well-made film, the kind that revisits you time and again in a pensive moment. Only one grouse, detailed in number 15.
15. Rangeela (1995) — A veritable dance extravaganza, man. Felt that Aamir Khan’s character dropped out of the picture towards the end. More development could have been drawn out of this scamp. In a way it’s the same as my only grouse with Parineeta — why is it that the fate of a main character would in the end be subject to the decisions of others? On the other hand, a bit of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam seeps in, where writing your own destiny is not equated to attaining your first and most ardent desires.
Can’t wait for the 19 days left till 22 July, but from there on I’m plunging into the murky, irksome world of having to rationalise my existence again. The anxiety can be a real wheeze.
